Swarm collection

Found a honeybee swarm in Gwent?

We come out to you and either collect the swarm directly or set a bait box so it settles safely. Every swarm is then rehomed in one of our apiaries.

While you wait for us

  • Keep people and pets well back from the swarm.
  • Do not spray it, move it or try to disturb it.
  • If you can do so safely, take a photo from a distance. It helps us check that it is a honeybee swarm and plan what to bring.

Where swarms go

Once secured, each swarm is relocated to one of our apiaries and joins our Varroa-resistant breeding programme. As a National Bee Unit registered apiary (ID 100414), we handle collection and relocation with bio-security in mind from start to finish.
